Evidence · Practice · Lived experience

The most trusted intelligence on adaptive experiences.

AXLab connects evidence, practice and lived experience across Travel, Care and Hospitality — so families, practitioners, organisations, researchers and policymakers can understand how adaptive systems actually work, not only how they are supposed to work.

The observatories

Three systems. Different questions. One method.

Each observatory tracks a system over time — accumulating evidence, updating prior conclusions and connecting individual incidents to recurring structures.

Travel observatory

Does the journey work for everyone who attempts it?

Accessible travel depends on far more than a compliant booking page. We track what happens across the full journey — from planning to arrival.

  • Airline assistance and mobility-aid handling
  • Rail and ground mobility
  • Destination and venue access
  • Policy and operational changes
Care observatory

Does the support system reach the people who need it?

We connect clinical evidence with waiting times, service availability, funding rules and the everyday work of families navigating complex systems.

  • Early intervention and therapy access
  • Assistive and adaptive technology
  • Funding, reimbursement and transitions
  • Care pathway changes across the lifespan
Hospitality observatory — research agenda

Do accessible promises hold when put to operational use?

The Hospitality Observatory is an active research agenda. We are building the evidence base before publishing conclusions.

  • Hotel and venue access in practice
  • Sensory and communication needs
  • Inclusive service design
  • Guest experience signals

What AXLab is watching

Current themes under active observation.

These are the system-level questions AXLab is tracking across Travel, Care and Hospitality. Intelligence on each will be published as evidence develops.

Travel
  • Mobility-aid damage and airline accountability
  • Airport assistance standards post-EAA
  • Rail accessibility and real-time information gaps
Care
  • Adolescence transitions and the service cliff
  • Caregiver capacity and family coordination burden
  • Adaptive technology access and reimbursement delays
Hospitality
  • EAA implementation in hotel and venue operations
  • Inclusive hospitality and accessible service design
  • India: adaptive experience provision and market gaps

How AXLab works

Three disciplines. One standard.

The evidence often exists. The usable intelligence often does not. AXLab brings together research, service realities and lived experience through a consistent method.

Evidence-grounded

We begin with research, policy, standards, official data and credible reporting. We distinguish strong evidence from early signals and make uncertainty visible.

Practice-tested

We examine how ideas work inside real organisations, services, journeys and operational constraints. Policy intent is not treated as proof of delivery.

Lived-experience anchored

We use lived experience to identify hidden friction, test assumptions and reveal what formal systems overlook. Experience informs the analysis without being made to carry claims it cannot support.

About AXLab

An intelligence institution, not a software platform.

AXLab grew from direct experience of navigating systems that often look coherent from the outside but become fragmented at the point of use. The lab exists to connect evidence with the realities families, practitioners and organisations encounter, and to build a more reliable intelligence base for adaptive experiences.

The work is personal in origin, but institutional in ambition.
